Contract No. CP000241
CONSTRUCTION
Contract No. CP000241
CONSTRUCTION
COVID-19 is an unprecedented situation and the City of Ottawa is committed to protecting people and the community. The Province of Ontario has allowed certain businesses and workplaces, including all municipal construction projects, to continue operations subject to compliance with strict public health and safety protocols. The City is working closely with the industry and complying with restrictions and recommendations provided by municipal, provincial and federal health officials, as well as the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
This notice is to advise that construction in your neighbourhood will be starting in mid-June 2021. The work is being conducted because the Acres Pumping Station and Hazeldean Pumping Station require Photo-Ionisation (PI) odour control to improve air quality and reduce odours. The pumping station in your neighbourhood is the Hazeldean Pumping Station.
Information for the Acres and Hazeldean Pumping Station Upgrade project can be found at
ottawa.ca/acreshazeldeanpumpingstations.
What: The work includes the construction of ductwork to convey air flow from the sewer at the station to a new PI odour control unit adjacent to the station to process and reduce odour in the air. Work will also include the installation of a concrete pad and power and control wiring to the PI units from the adjacent station. All work will take place on City owned, pump station property.
Why: Sewage odours at the pumping station are excessive.
When: Construction is planned to start mid-June 2021 and is expected to be completed by March 2022.
Where: Hazeldean Pumping Station at 415 Michael Cowpland Drive.
Who: The City of Ottawa has retained the Contractor, Black and MacDonald Limited, to complete the work.

Construction Disruptions
The Contractor will take every precaution to minimize interruptions to the everyday life of your family and/or operation of your business, but as you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the course of the construction work, such as traffic delays, noise, dust and vibration.
